The SKF 32322 tapered roller bearing can withstand high radial and axial loads and, with dimensions of 110 x 240 x 84.5 mm, is suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The 32322 tapered roller bearing is an open, single-row roller bearing designed for demanding mechanical loads. The SKF design consists of an inner ring with a guided set of rollers and a separately mountable outer ring. Thanks to the tapered raceways, the component transmits combined forces precisely into the housing. With a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 84.5 mm, the unit is suitable for industrial gearboxes and shaft systems subject to high mechanical loads.
The design accommodates high radial loads in combination with axial forces acting from one side. As a single tapered roller bearing can only be loaded axially in one direction, it is typically fitted in pairs in machinery, with a second bearing. This mirror-image arrangement provides stable support for shafts in both axial directions and allows precise adjustment of the desired operating clearance during commissioning.
The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the rollers spaced apart and guides them evenly along the raceways of the inner ring. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius and thus covers a wide range of industrial operating conditions. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component fits standardised bearing seats. As an open bearing arrangement, the assembly requires a suitable housing seal and a continuous supply of lubricant.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 240 mm and a total width of 84.5 mm. These dimensions determine the space required for installation on the shaft and within the housing. Before installation, it is advisable to check the cylindrical bearing seats for dimensional accuracy and geometric accuracy.
The tapered rolling elements simultaneously absorb high radial forces and unidirectional axial forces. The load is transmitted via rows of rollers set at an angle. To accommodate axial forces in both directions, the shaft must be fitted with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. In addition to the cage and the rolling bearing steel, the lubricant used is the primary factor determining the actual operating limit. In the event of continuous thermal stress at the limit values, the selected grease or lubricating oil must be appropriately specified.
This tolerance class specifies the standard normal tolerance for rolling bearings and sets limit values for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. The accuracy is sufficient for standard applications in gearbox and general mechanical engineering and offers a cost-effective balance between precision and load-bearing capacity.
The outer ring and inner ring, with the roller set pre-fitted, can be handled separately. This design simplifies assembly, as the outer ring can be fitted into the housing and the inner ring onto the shaft separately. The required bearing clearance is then adjusted during assembly within the housing.
As an open component without an integrated seal, the bearing requires a supply of lubricant via the housing, for example in the form of bearing grease or an oil bath. To keep out contaminants and prevent lubricant leakage, external seals, such as shaft seals, must be fitted to the housing.
