The single-row tapered roller bearing 33122, measuring 110 × 180 × 56 mm, withstands high radial and unilateral axial loads in industrial applications.
The 33122 tapered roller bearing from FAG is a separable rolling bearing designed for demanding mechanical applications. With an inner diameter of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 56 mm, this single-row bearing supports heavy shafts. Thanks to the line contact of the tapered rollers, these components can transmit high forces whilst maintaining a compact design. The inner and outer rings can be fitted separately, which simplifies maintenance and installation in mechanical engineering.
This rolling bearing simultaneously accommodates high radial loads and single-sided axial loads. Typical applications include gearboxes and mounted shaft systems where rigid guidance is required. As a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in a mirror-image pair with a second bearing. This arrangement supports the shaft in both directions.
The bearing is fitted with a sheet steel cage that guides the tapered rollers and is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1, suitable for standard applications in industrial environments. As the outer ring and inner ring are not permanently joined, fitters set the required operating clearance directly during assembly via the axial preload.
The main dimensions are 110 mm bore diameter for the shaft mounting, 180 mm outer diameter and 56 mm overall width. These standardised dimensions determine the single-row roller bearing. During design and maintenance, pay close attention to these fit dimensions to ensure a precise fit in the housing and on the shaft.
Due to its design, the tapered geometry of the rolling elements transmits combined loads consisting of radial and axial forces. As a single bearing can only support axial forces in one direction, a second tapered roller bearing is usually fitted as a mating bearing to accommodate alternating axial loads during operation.
This specification denotes the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings in industrial applications. P0 or PN corresponds to class ABEC 1. It defines standardised dimensional and concentricity tolerances for normal speeds and running characteristics in mechanical and plant engineering.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The key factors determining thermal suitability are the integrated sheet steel cage and the dimensional stability of the bearing components. Select a lubricant that is suitable for this temperature range and the specific operating conditions of your machine.
As the outer ring and inner ring are supplied separately, there is no factory-set bearing clearance. Fitters only set the desired radial or axial clearance during installation by adjusting the position of the two bearings relative to one another, usually using shims, shaft nuts or adjusting screws in the housing.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, keeps the conical rollers at a uniform distance apart and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. This ensures smooth roller guidance and aids the flow of lubricant. Thanks to the material used, the bearing retains its dimensional stability even under fluctuating thermal conditions.
