The 22211 EK self-aligning roller bearing from SKF combines a 55 mm tapered bore with P5 precision for demanding radial loads within a 55 x 100 x 25 mm installation space.
The 22211 EK self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the Explorer performance class. Designed for heavy radial and axial loads in both directions, it automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. Thanks to its standard radial clearance, the component is suitable for standard operating conditions in continuous industrial use.
This bearing is used where shaft mountings must accommodate high radial forces whilst simultaneously compensating for angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. The design covers applications where shaft deflection or misalignment must be compensated for. Thanks to the increased P5 running accuracy combined with standardised PN dimensional accuracy, the unit operates with low vibration. The open design without an integrated seal allows direct connection to existing lubrication systems in the machine room.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 facilitates mounting on clamping sleeves, withdrawal sleeves or directly onto tapered shaft journals. By sliding the bearing axially onto the shaft, fitters can precisely adjust the remaining bearing clearance in the system. The outer ring features a lubrication groove with lubrication holes. This allows lubricant to flow directly between the rows of rollers during operation, which facilitates targeted relubrication.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. The bore is not cylindrical, but is designed with a standard taper ratio of 1:12.
The symbol ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for flexible mounting on stepped shafts or using a sleeve. Furthermore, the operating clearance can be adjusted during axial press-fitting.
The circumferential groove and the radial bores in the outer ring direct grease or lubricating oil directly into the interior of the bearing. This ensures that the lubricant is distributed evenly across both raceways. This makes it easier to relubricate the bearing whilst it is fitted.
This roller bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with increased running accuracy (P5). Whilst the external dimensions comply with the usual standard tolerances, the rotating inner ring has tighter concentricity tolerances. This contributes to low-vibration operation under dynamic loads.
The bearing’s temperature resistance ranges from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their strength even under prolonged exposure to heat. This requires a lubricant that is suitable for this temperature range.
Open roller bearings do not have factory-fitted sealing washers. They are suitable for applications where housing seals protect the bearing from dirt or where continuous oil or grease lubrication is provided. This allows the bearing to be flushed and filled with lubricant as required.
