The QJ314-MPA four-point bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings, with a 70 mm bore, accommodates high axial loads in both directions within a compact installation space.
The QJ314-MPA four-point bearing is a special radial ball bearing whose raceway geometry accommodates axial loads in both directions. Designed as an open bearing, the construction – with an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm – offers a compact solution for shaft mountings with very limited installation space. This component from FAG Rolling Bearings complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and operates with standard radial clearance.
This bearing type is primarily suitable for applications where axial forces from two directions need to be accommodated and where double-row angular contact ball bearings would require too much axial installation space. In such designs, the bearing often functions purely as an axial bearing alongside a separate radial bearing. As there are no retaining grooves in the outer ring, the outer ring rests evenly against the housing, whilst the guided brass cage is designed to withstand demanding mechanical loads.
The design with a split inner ring allows a greater number of rolling elements to be incorporated, which specifically enhances the axial load-carrying capacity. The components are not self-retaining: The outer ring, including the ball race, and the two inner ring halves can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. As the design remains open, the type of lubricant and relubrication intervals can be flexibly adapted to the respective operating conditions within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The single-row roller bearing has contact lines that form four points on average. As a result, the design accommodates axial forces in both directions and requires less axial installation space than two separate angular contact ball bearings.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. These standardised mounting dimensions ensure a precise fit on the shaft and in the housing bore.
The suffix MPA indicates a solid brass cage. Brass is characterised by high strength and good run-on properties, which is advantageous under high accelerations and in demanding lubrication conditions.
The specified operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. Within these limits, the bearing rings and the brass cage retain their dimensionally stable geometry to ensure reliable operation.
Designed as an open bearing, the component allows for flexible lubrication via the system’s oil or grease circuit. At the same time, the absence of abrasive seals reduces internal friction during operation.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the standard clearance between the balls and raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It ensures that the bearing rotates freely under normal operating conditions after being pressed onto the shaft.
