The FAG QJ214-MPA four-point bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions whilst featuring a slim design and dimensions of 70 × 125 × 24 mm.
The FAG QJ214-MPA four-point bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing which, thanks to its special raceway geometry, accommodates axial loads in both directions. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm, this rolling bearing requires minimal axial installation space. As it is an open bearing without sealing rings, the lubricant can be freely selected to suit the specific operating conditions.
This bearing is primarily used where axial forces occur in alternating directions and defined shaft guidance is required. Typical applications are found in industrial bearing arrangements subject primarily to axial loads. The four-point bearing is often fitted in combination with a separate radial bearing, in which case, with radial housing clearance, it performs exclusively axial guidance functions. As the outer ring has no retaining grooves, it is secured via the housing seat.
In terms of design, this component is characterised by a two-piece inner ring. As a result, the bearing accommodates a larger number of balls, which enhances its axial load-carrying capacity. Furthermore, this design facilitates the separate mounting of the inner and outer rings onto the shaft and housing. The guided brass cage, identified by the suffix MPA, exhibits high mechanical strength and is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees. The bearing has a standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
With a bore of 70 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm, the QJ214-MPA four-point bearing can be integrated precisely into housing designs. It enables precise shaft guidance whilst maintaining a compact axial footprint.
A four-point contact bearing has four points of contact between the rolling elements and the raceways, enabling it to accommodate axial forces in both directions. Standard deep-groove ball bearings, by contrast, are primarily designed for radial loads. The four-point bearing often replaces double-row angular contact ball bearings, thereby saving valuable installation width.
The two-piece design of the inner ring makes it possible to fit more balls into the bearing than would be possible with a one-piece ring. This contributes to a high axial load-carrying capacity. Furthermore, during assembly, the inner ring halves and the outer ring can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing.
The suffix ‘MPA’ stands for a solid brass cage that is guided on the outer ring. Brass cages offer high mechanical stability and are suitable for applications involving vibration, shock loads or varying speeds in industrial machine drives.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows for a free choice of lubricant. This means the bearing can be integrated directly into existing oil circuits or supplied with application-specific grease. Furthermore, the absence of abrasive sealing lips reduces friction.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +150 degrees. The bearing rings, rolling elements and brass cage are designed for this operating range. When selecting the design, care must be taken to ensure that the chosen lubricant is also approved for the required temperatures.
