The FAG QJ212-MPA four-point bearing (60x110x22 mm) accommodates high axial forces in both directions whilst requiring minimal axial installation space.
The FAG QJ212-MPA four-point bearing is a specialised radial ball bearing designed to accommodate high axial loads from both directions. With dimensions of 60 mm bore, 110 mm outer diameter and 22 mm width, this rolling bearing requires less axial installation space than two separate angular contact ball bearings. Designed as an open bearing with a brass cage and a split inner ring, this unit is suitable for industrial applications in a temperature range from –30 to +150 degrees.
The QJ212-MPA four-point bearing is primarily used where varying axial loads occur and defined axial guidance is required. Typical applications include bearing arrangements in which radial forces are absorbed separately. Thanks to the split inner ring, the bearing guides shafts in the axial direction, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without a groove. This design is not intended for purely radial loads.
The two-piece inner ring allows for the accommodation of a large number of rolling elements, which enhances the axial load-carrying capacity. This non-self-retaining design also simplifies assembly, as the outer ring and the two halves of the inner ring can be fitted separately. The brass cage guides the balls within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the bearing location in the housing is sealed externally and supplied with lubricant.
Thanks to the special raceway geometry, a four-point contact bearing can accommodate high axial forces in both directions, whilst deep-groove ball bearings primarily carry radial loads. The split inner ring also allows for a larger ball volume. This saves axial installation space compared with paired angular contact ball bearings.
This FAG bearing has an inside diameter of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width across flats of 22 mm. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 with standard radial clearance.
The split inner ring allows more rolling elements to be incorporated during manufacture, which increases the axial load capacity. At the same time, the split ring makes it easier to install the bearing: the outer ring with its ball race and the two halves of the inner ring can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing.
The brass cage is characterised by its dimensional stability and resistance to lubricants. This design withstands mechanical stress and covers the bearing’s full temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees.
As an open bearing, this design does not feature any factory-fitted sealing washers. Lubrication with oil or grease is provided by the housing design. External seals, such as shaft seals on the housing covers, serve to prevent the ingress of dirt particles and the escape of lubricant.
The roller bearing is designed for use in temperature ranges between -30 and +150 degrees. The actual operating limits are determined not only by the thermal resistance of the bearing components but also by the properties of the selected lubricant.
