The SKF 6312 deep groove ball bearing is an open radial ball bearing with a 60 mm bore, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a width of 31 mm, designed for a wide range of industrial applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6312 is one of the most versatile rolling bearings used in mechanical and plant engineering. It primarily absorbs radial forces and also supports the shaft axially in both directions. As part of the SKF Explorer range, this component features optimised internal geometries and fine raceways made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6). The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing is suitable for applications where radial forces predominate whilst axial forces occur on both sides. Rotating shafts in industrial drives transmit the forces directly via the inner and outer rings. As the outer ring is designed without a flange or ring groove, the bearing fits flush into cylindrical housing bores. The symmetrical design transfers alternating axial and radial loads to the surrounding components.
This model has no integrated seals or cover plates. As a result, liquid oil or grease from the housing circulation system circulates inside the bearing, which aids heat dissipation and keeps rotational resistance low. An external housing seal prevents lubricant loss and the ingress of contaminants. Thanks to the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing is suitable for standardised fits on shafts and housings.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a total width of 31 mm. These metric dimensions are designed to withstand radial and axial loads in mechanical and plant engineering.
As an open-type bearing, this design allows for direct lubrication via lubrication circuits on the housing side, for example through oil bath or recirculating lubrication. The absence of abrasive sealing lips reduces rotational resistance. In such designs, seals fitted to the housing provide protection against dirt and moisture.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It compensates for the interference fit when the inner ring is pressed onto the shaft and, at operating temperature, ensures an appropriate operating clearance during operation.
Manufactured from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, the design is rated for continuous operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the bearing material retains its dimensional stability, provided that the lubricant used is approved for this temperature range.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (equivalent to PN or ABEC 1). This denotes the standardised precision for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. For industrial applications on conventional shaft and housing seats, this class offers a suitable level of guidance accuracy.
