The SKF 6309 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines contact seals with increased bearing clearance, with dimensions of 45x100x25 mm, for a wide range of industrial applications.
The 6309 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. This single-row roller bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, features a robust sheet steel cage that guides the rolling elements with precision. Thanks to its sealed design with seals that rub against both sides, the component protects the raceways from the ingress of dust and moisture at operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
Industrial bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial loads constitute the main area of application for this deep groove ball bearing when protection against external environmental influences is required. This design is recommended for constructions in which heat is generated during operation or where fits are selected that reduce the operating clearance. The sealed design ensures smooth running during continuous operation and accommodates combined loads in general mechanical engineering.
The version with the suffix C3 has a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional operating clearance serves to compensate for temperature- or assembly-related expansion of the shaft and housing, so that the rolling elements can roll freely. At the same time, the two 2RS1 sealing lips shield the internal space from dirt particles, whilst the cylindrical outer ring without a groove facilitates installation in standard housings to tolerance class P0.
The main dimensions are 45 mm bore diameter on the inner ring, 100 mm outer diameter on the outer ring and 25 mm width. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for single-row radial deep-groove ball bearings of this size and allow for installation in standardised housing seats.
The designation 2RS1 indicates abiding contact seals fitted on both sides. The flexible sealing lips rest against the inner ring and effectively shield the interior of the bearing against the ingress of dust, moisture and foreign particles. At the same time, they retain the lubricant within the bearing.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard PN version. This additional operating clearance serves to compensate for temperature-induced expansion during operation and helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed in the case of tight fits.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This limit is determined by the material properties of the sealing lips that come into contact with each other, as well as the lubricant used inside. In applications within this range, the components retain their dimensional stability and functionality.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which can withstand high mechanical compressive loads. The row of balls is guided by a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which controls the rolling motion and ensures even load distribution across the raceways.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or Standard (PN), which corresponds to ABEC 1. This standard accuracy class fully meets the requirements for dimensional and concentricity accuracy in standard mechanical engineering applications and industrial shaft bearings.
