The SKF 6304-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a 20 mm bore, an outer diameter of 52 mm and cover plates on both sides.
The SKF 6304-2Z deep groove ball bearing is suitable for applications involving predominantly radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel in the SKF Explorer design, this unit is characterised by smooth raceways. With a 20 mm bore, 52 mm outer diameter and 15 mm width, the bearing complies with standard industrial dimensions. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used at high speeds and with standardised shaft seats. Typical applications include rotating shafts subjected to radial and moderate axial loads in general mechanical engineering. The design without a flange or groove on the outer ring allows for direct installation in cylindrical housing bores. Thanks to the standard radial bearing clearance, the radial play remains within the specified limits at normal operating temperatures.
The suffix -2Z denotes two non-contacting cover plates made of sheet steel, which protect the bearing interior from coarse dirt particles. As the split seals do not come into contact with the inner ring, no additional frictional torque is generated during operation. This enables the bearing to be used at high speeds without incurring additional thermal stress. The bearing has the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, ensuring compliance with standardised dimensional specifications. Before installation, the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius must be taken into account.
The bearing has a bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 15 mm. The outer ring is manufactured without a groove or flange, which facilitates direct installation in cylindrical housing bores.
Sheet steel end shields fitted on both sides seal off the roller bearing. These end shields keep coarse dirt particles out of the bearing interior. As the shields do not come into contact with the inner ring, no additional frictional resistance is generated during operation, which facilitates high rotational speeds.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. Separate designs are required for operating temperatures outside this range.
The bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This defines the radial clearance of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unloaded. It is suitable for normal operating conditions and standard fits without significant temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements of the single-row bearing and maintains a uniform spacing between them. The sheet steel cage design combines dimensional stability with low weight. This ensures that the balls remain correctly positioned even under dynamic loads.
Tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 specifies standardised limits for dimensional and concentricity tolerances. This ensures that the bearing complies with the standard fit specifications used in mechanical engineering and can be fitted to standard shafts whilst maintaining dimensional accuracy.
