The SKF 629 deep groove ball bearing features compact dimensions of 9 × 26 × 8 mm, making it suitable for a wide range of radial bearing applications in compact machinery and small appliances.
The 629 deep groove ball bearing is a compact, single-row radial ball bearing from SKF with an inside diameter of 9 mm, an outside diameter of 26 mm and a width of 8 mm. As an SKF Explorer series rolling bearing, this model utilises rolling elements and rings made from conventional standard bearing steel (100Cr6). The open design, without sealing rings, allows for direct lubrication via the surrounding unit and minimises friction losses at high speeds. This makes the bearing equally suitable for demanding repair work and for mass production.
This deep-groove ball bearing primarily accommodates radial loads and supports shafts under moderate axial forces in both directions. This size is used wherever limited installation space is combined with high speeds. Design engineers and maintenance technicians use this design primarily when the installation space is oil-lubricated or when the bearing position is integrated into a sealed housing. Thanks to the standard tolerance of class P0 or ABEC 1, the component can be mounted with dimensional accuracy onto cylindrical shaft seats.
As the 629 deep groove ball bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, the surrounding housing provides protection against dirt particles and environmental influences. During operation, lubricants reach the raceways and rolling elements directly. With its standard radial clearance, the component is designed to accommodate thermal expansion within the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The guided sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements and ensures smooth running.
With an internal diameter of 9 mm, an external diameter of 26 mm and a width of 8 mm, the bearing has compact dimensions. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange or ring groove, meaning the component can be fitted flush into cylindrical housing bores.
In an open design, the roller bearing does not have factory-fitted cover plates or sealing discs on the end faces. The rolling elements are exposed, which means the bearing has a low friction torque. However, the surrounding structure must provide both the lubricant supply and protection against the ingress of foreign particles.
The component is made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the rings, balls and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability, provided that the selected lubricant is specified for these thermal conditions.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance of the balls between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unmounted. This standard clearance is designed to ensure smooth, jam-free operation under normal shaft and housing fits, as well as under operating temperatures.
A stamped sheet steel cage is used in the bearing. This cage guides the rolling elements along the raceway, prevents the balls from coming into contact with one another and helps to ensure an even load distribution. Sheet steel cages offer high mechanical stability whilst being lightweight.
Tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 specifies standardised dimensional, geometric and running accuracy requirements for rolling bearings. This specification forms the basis for standard industrial applications without enhanced precision requirements and enables a precise replacement in the event of repairs.
