The SKF 6210-2Z deep-groove ball bearing (50x90x20 mm) features cover plates on both sides for applications requiring protection against dirt at normal operating temperatures.
The 6210-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design. With a 50 mm bore, 90 mm outside diameter and 20 mm width, this bearing primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. The sheet metal end shields on both sides protect the interior from coarse dirt particles. Together with the sheet steel cage and the standard radial clearance, the assembly operates within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Designs featuring rotating shafts benefit from this design, provided that predominantly radial forces are acting and misalignment remains negligible. As the cover plates operate without contact, the friction torque remains low. This is advantageous for applications involving higher speeds where protection against solid foreign particles is also required. The cylindrical outer ring without a groove allows for installation in standardised housing bores.
The designation -2Z denotes cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. Unlike abiding seals, these gap seals do not generate any additional frictional resistance, ensuring that the operating temperature remains moderate. Solid particles and coarse dust are retained, whilst the lubricant remains within the bearing chamber. For environments with splashing water or liquids, abiding seals are preferable. The standard radial bearing clearance requires suitable housing and shaft fits during operation.
This design combines a 50 mm bore and a 90 mm outer diameter made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with sheet metal cover plates on both sides. These provide contact-free protection against dust and coarse dirt. The single-row bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and can accommodate radial and moderate axial loads.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 20 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in shape and has no flange or ring groove, meaning it can be pressed directly into suitable standard housings.
The suffix -2Z denotes two non-contacting cover discs made of sheet steel, which are press-fitted into the outer ring on both sides. They form a narrow sealing gap with the inner ring. As there is no frictional contact, this variant is suitable for applications involving higher speeds without causing additional thermal stress.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, both the standard roller bearing steel used and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and strength, provided that the lubrication is suited to the respective temperature level.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related radial clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This standard clearance class is designed for typical fit selections and moderate operating temperatures. Where there are significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, an increased bearing clearance is recommended as an alternative.
A sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance from one another. This cage is characterised by its low weight and resistance to common lubricants, and is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
