The SKF 61826 /C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row thin-section bearing with dimensions of 130 x 165 x 18 mm and increased clearance.
The SKF 61826 /C3 deep groove ball bearing combines a large shaft diameter of 130 mm with a slim cross-section, measuring just 18 mm in width. As a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this component primarily withstands radial forces as well as moderate axial loads. Thanks to its open design without integrated seals, the lubricant in the housing can be freely selected and replaced. The built-in sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
Designs with limited radial installation space benefit from this narrow bearing series. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering, in gearboxes or industrial plant where hollow shafts or large shaft diameters are guided. The bearing is fitted in clean environments where housing seals are designed to protect against the ingress of dirt particles. The open design is suitable for enclosed spaces with a central oil circulation system or targeted grease lubrication.
The suffix /C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the balls and raceways is necessary when temperature differences occur between the inner ring and outer ring during operation. If the shaft heats up more than the housing, the inner ring expands. The C3 clearance compensates for this thermal expansion as well as manufacturing-related oversizes in fits, thereby reducing the build-up of internal stress within the bearing.
This thin-section bearing has an inside diameter of 130 mm, an outside diameter of 165 mm and a narrow width of 18 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove. It is manufactured in accordance with the standard tolerances of class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The open design does not require any ablative cover or sealing discs, which minimises frictional resistance. This allows the bearing to be integrated directly into on-site lubrication circuits, such as in oil-lubricated gearboxes. To protect against dirt and moisture, this variant requires the use of external housing seals, such as shaft seals.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than the standard clearance when the bearing is unloaded. This additional clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up due to thermal expansion or tight fits on the shaft. In particular, when heat is transferred via the shaft, the rolling elements continue to operate smoothly.
The bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the material retains its dimensional stability. Ensure you select a lubricant whose thermal resistance is suitable for the specific operating conditions of your application.
The single-row roller bearing consists of an inner ring with a 130 mm bore, an outer ring with an outer diameter of 165 mm, and balls made of bearing steel guided within it. A robust cage made of pressed sheet steel keeps the balls at a uniform distance from one another. The bearing has no electrical insulation and is of a one-piece design.
As a deep-groove ball bearing, this design is primarily intended to accommodate radial forces. Thanks to the deep raceways in the inner and outer rings, the bearing can also transmit moderate axial forces in both directions. However, in the event of excessive axial forces, you should check whether special thrust bearings or angular contact ball bearings would be more suitable for the system.
