The SKF 61810 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 50 × 65 × 7 mm, offers a space-saving solution for rotating shafts subjected to radial loads.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 61810 from SKF belongs to the thin-section bearing series and is characterised by a particularly narrow cross-section. With a bore of 50 mm and an outside diameter of 65 mm, the component is only 7 mm wide. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing absorbs radial forces and supports low axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its open design, the bearing is suitable for oil- or grease-lubricated systems.
Design engineers turn to the 61810 deep groove ball bearing when shaft diameters are large but the radial and axial installation space within the housing remains severely limited. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft mountings with limited radial installation space. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and keeps friction resistance low. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees, thereby meeting the standard thermal requirements of industrial drives.
As this model is designed without integrated sealing washers, the selected lubricant reaches the raceways and balls unimpeded. By design, the open version requires a clean housing environment as well as external sealing elements such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals to prevent the ingress of dirt particles. With tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing complies with current industry standards. The outer ring has neither a flange nor a groove, allowing the bearing to fit flush into cylindrical housing bores.
With an internal diameter of 50 mm, an external diameter of 65 mm and a width of 7 mm, this model features a thin-walled design. Given the comparatively large shaft diameter, this geometry requires only a small amount of radial space within the housing.
Open roller bearings do not have factory-fitted seals or cover plates. This design allows free circulation of lubricant within the bearing, making it suitable for external oil circuits or immersion lubrication. The bearing housing must be protected against dirt and moisture by means of housing seals.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It ensures that, once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing, it runs freely and without undesirable stress under standard operating conditions.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. This material is characterised by its dimensional stability and suitability for continuous loads. A cage made from pressed sheet steel is used to guide the balls.
The roller bearing is designed for use within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the roller bearing steel retains its dimensional stability. When selecting a lubricant, you should ensure that it is approved for the temperatures encountered during operation.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification in the US. This standard tolerance meets the requirements for standard precision applications in mechanical engineering and allows for installation in standardised shaft and housing seats.
