The FAG 16036 deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 180 × 280 × 31 mm, offers a narrow design for radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 16036 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a narrow cross-section. It primarily absorbs radial forces and supports shafts in both axial directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing is characterised by its dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity. As it is designed as an open bearing, lubricant can reach the raceways unhindered, which makes it suitable for use in oil-lubricated housings and enclosed spaces.
The 16036 deep groove ball bearing is primarily used in mechanical engineering in applications involving combined loads. Thanks to its narrow cross-section and a bore diameter of 180 mm, the design is suitable for installation locations with limited axial space. The bearing transmits both radial and axial forces whilst ensuring smooth running. In sealed housings, the open design ensures that lubricating oil or grease reaches the rolling elements directly.
The design without integrated seals allows for a direct supply of lubricant and reduces frictional resistance during operation. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements smoothly and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees. With the standard radial bearing clearance and the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the component meets standard installation requirements. The design must include external sealing of the housing to prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
With an internal diameter of 180 mm, an external diameter of 280 mm and a width of 31 mm, the 16036 deep-groove ball bearing has a narrow design. Thanks to this small cross-section, the bearing is particularly suitable for designs with a large shaft diameter whilst requiring a compact installation space in the axial direction.
The bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability. A sheet steel cage is fitted to guide the rolling elements, keeping the balls at a uniform distance from one another.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways prior to installation. This standard bearing clearance is designed for typical fit conditions on the shaft and housing, as well as normal operating temperatures, ensuring low-friction operation without the rolling elements becoming jammed.
An operating temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees is specified for the open bearing. As no heat-sensitive seals are incorporated, the thermal load capacity is determined by the roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage. The lubricant used must be suitable for the temperatures encountered during operation.
The absence of contact seals or cover plates minimises friction losses and ensures smooth running of the rolling elements. This open design is intended for installation locations where the surrounding housing is sealed externally or where a continuous supply of lubricant is provided via an oil bath.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (also known as PN or ABEC 1). This standard tolerance meets the standard requirements in mechanical engineering regarding dimensional, geometric and running accuracy, and allows for use in conventionally machined fits on shafts and housings.
