The FAG 6034-C3 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with a 170 mm bore and increased C3 clearance, is suitable for industrial drives operating under high thermal loads.
The 6034-C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open rolling bearing for industrial applications with a bore of 170 mm, an outer diameter of 260 mm and a width of 42 mm. As a single-row bearing, it accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The design is from FAG and consists of standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 for the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements. A sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly in the raceways.
This bearing is primarily used in applications where radial and axial forces, as well as operational heat build-up, occur. With a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees, the component is also suitable for use at fluctuating operating temperatures. The open design without integrated sealing washers allows for flexible lubrication via the housing, whether with lubricating oil or special rolling-element bearing grease. During design, care must be taken to ensure effective external housing sealing.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the balls and raceways helps to ensure that the bearing does not become stressed when the shaft heats up or in the case of tight fits. This ensures smooth running is maintained even during thermal expansion. In combination with the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and the flangeless outer ring, the rolling bearing can be fitted precisely into cylindrical housing bores.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 170 mm, an outside diameter of 260 mm and a width of 42 mm. It is a single-row roller bearing without a flange or groove on the outer ring. These main dimensions determine the required installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with standard air clearance. This characteristic compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings before the bearing reaches its actual operating clearance balance during operation. Furthermore, the additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed in tight-fitting seats.
As the bearing is designed to be open as standard and has no integrated seals, lubrication is provided externally via the surrounding housing. Depending on the operating conditions, you can use either oil or grease lubrication. It is important to ensure the housing is externally sealed to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber and prevent the ingress of dirt.
The roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The combination of standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage helps to maintain the dimensional stability of the components across this temperature range, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for the respective temperatures.
The bearing complies with tolerance classes P0 or PN and ABEC 1. This standard precision covers many industrial applications. It defines the dimensional accuracy of the mounting dimensions on the shaft and housing without any additional special requirements for tighter tolerance ranges.
