The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6215 -MA-C3, measuring 75 x 130 x 25 mm, with a solid brass cage and increased bearing clearance, offers a high level of operational reliability under thermal conditions.
The 6215 -MA-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from FAG, manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6). With a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm, this design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the component can be integrated directly into external lubrication circuits.
This rolling bearing is particularly suitable for use where vibrations, higher speeds or operational heating occur. Thanks to its specified temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius, the bearing operates reliably in environments subject to thermal stresses. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering, gearbox stages and stationary industrial drives. As the outer ring has no groove or flange, it is fitted into pre-machined cylindrical housing bores.
The design designation MA stands for a solid brass cage with an external guide. This type of cage provides the rolling element set with high stability against vibrations and shock loads. The radially increased C3 bearing clearance compensates for thermal expansion during operation as well as constrictions caused by fit oversize on the shaft. Manufactured to standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1), the component fits dimensionally accurately into standardised designs.
The dimensions are 75 mm bore diameter, 130 mm outer diameter and 25 mm width. These values are the standardised main dimensions of the 6215 series. Before installation, check the shaft shoulder and the housing bore to ensure a precise fit in accordance with the specified tolerance class P0.
The abbreviation MA denotes a machined solid brass cage with an outer ring guide. This solid design is characterised by high dimensional stability under vibrations and accelerations. The cage guides the rolling elements, made from standard roller bearing steel, with precision and is suitable for demanding mechanical loads in rotating mechanical assemblies.
Bearing clearance class C3 has greater radial clearance than the standard version. If the inner and outer rings are fitted with tight fits, or if a temperature difference arises between the shaft and the housing, the internal clearance is reduced. The increased bearing clearance helps to prevent the bearing from becoming stressed during operation.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. As the rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel and no temperature-sensitive plastic components are used, this variant is suitable for a wide range of thermal conditions. The externally supplied lubricant must be suitable for the relevant temperature range.
Open roller bearings are supplied ex-works without cover plates or mechanical seals. Designs frequently utilise this type of bearing in oil-bath or recirculating lubrication systems, as the lubricant reaches the raceways directly. The surrounding housing must provide a seal against dirt and moisture to prevent premature wear.
The manufacturing accuracy corresponds to tolerance class P0 or PN, comparable to ABEC 1. This standard accuracy meets the requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering. It requires cylindrical bearing seats on the shaft and housing that comply with the standard ISO fits for single-row radial ball bearings.
