The FAG NU315 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 75 mm bore and a brass cage, offers a high-load-capacity solution for purely radial loads.
The NU315 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing designed specifically for industrial applications involving high radial forces. Designed as a floating bearing, this roller bearing allows for the axial compensation of shaft movement within the bearing housing. Thanks to the solid brass cage and the slightly increased C3 radial clearance, the bearing unit remains functional even under operational heat build-up and dynamic loads. The open design without integrated seals allows for flexible integration into application-specific lubrication systems.
This single-row roller bearing is particularly suitable for free-running bearing arrangements where high radial loads must be supported without additional axial forces. Relevant areas of application include heavy-duty drives and industrial gearboxes subject to continuous operation. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately. At the same time, the design effortlessly compensates for temperature-induced length changes in the rotating shaft, thereby preventing impermissible axial stresses in the bearing seat.
The design featuring a brass cage and C3 bearing clearance defines the operational behaviour under demanding conditions. The M1 brass cage guides the rolling elements reliably and withstands severe vibrations and shock loads. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for the thermal expansion of the bearing rings at high operating temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees. As the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore, a suitable housing seal and a targeted lubricant supply must be provided by the customer.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from either side. As a result, the bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It accommodates radial loads only and allows unrestricted axial movement of the shaft relative to the bearing housing.
The bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 75 mm, an external diameter of 160 mm and a total width of 37 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for the NU315 series in standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This greater radial clearance prevents the bearing from becoming unduly stressed due to operational heating or tight fits on the shaft and housing.
The M1 brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers and maintains a uniform spacing between them. Brass is characterised by high mechanical strength, which is why this design is particularly recommended for applications involving vibrations, dynamic shock loads and demanding operating conditions.
The cylindrical roller bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Within this range, the metal components retain their dimensional stability. For continuous operation, the selected lubricant must be suited to the actual operating temperature range.
As an open roller bearing, the NU315 -E-XL-M1-C3 design has no integrated seals. The bearing location must therefore be protected by the surrounding housing structure. Lubrication can be carried out using oil or grease; however, the lubricant must be supplied directly, as the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore.
