The SKF NU2214 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 70x125x31 mm, provides a free-running bearing solution for high radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The NU2214 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from SKF’s Explorer performance class. Thanks to its cylindrical rolling elements, the design can accommodate high radial loads. This model has a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides.
The single-row bearing is primarily used as a conventional non-locating bearing. As the shaft and housing may expand differently in response to temperature changes, the NU design compensates for axial length changes directly within the rolling element system without causing any binding. This design is suitable for bearing arrangements in which only radial loads are applied and the inner ring is required to remain axially movable.
The design suffix ‘P’ denotes the polyamide cage, which guides the rollers and is lightweight. The open bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the separately mountable inner ring, installation with tight fits is straightforward. The outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove, which is why the lubricant is supplied via the housing.
The designation NU refers to a cylindrical roller bearing whose outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from both ends. This design accommodates purely radial forces and functions in bearing arrangements as a floating bearing that compensates for changes in the shaft’s length.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a total width of 31 mm. It is a single-row roller bearing without seals. These key dimensions make the model suitable for applications with the appropriate radial installation space and high radial loads.
Bearings in the SKF Explorer performance class feature an optimised internal design. This design improves the distribution of loads and stresses along the contact surfaces. It reduces friction and promotes smooth running under demanding operating conditions in industrial applications.
The ECP version features a polyamide cage with an optimised internal design. The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and noise-damping properties. The permissible temperature range for the bearing with this cage design is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
This roller bearing has a standard radial clearance for normal operating conditions. It is manufactured to a combined tolerance class: dimensional accuracy complies with class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst running accuracy complies with class P6 or ABEC 3. This ensures smooth and precise concentricity.
As the bearing is manufactured ex-works without seals and without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied externally via the housing design. Depending on the operating conditions and speed, suitable greases or lubricating oils are used to lubricate the raceways.
