The FAG NU202 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row idler bearing, combines a radial load capacity of 15 × 35 × 11 mm with C3 clearance and a polyamide cage.
The NU202 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG for industrial applications. With a bore of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 35 mm and a width of 11 mm, the component is primarily designed to withstand high radial loads. The open design without an integrated seal is suitable for use in oil- or grease-lubricated systems. Thanks to its manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), this roller bearing fits into standardised housing and shaft fits.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians primarily use this design as a conventional non-locating bearing. As the outer ring has solid flanges and the inner ring is flangeless, the inner ring can be removed from either side. This feature allows axial shaft expansion to be compensated for directly within the bearing. Typical applications include shaft mountings where thermal length changes in the shaft occur. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the component can withstand high radial forces.
The designation TVP2 stands for a polyamide cage that guides the cylindrical rollers. This plastic cage reduces the weight of the rolling element guide and ensures low-vibration operation within a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The increased radial clearance (C3) provides additional leeway: it helps to prevent premature stress build-up in the rolling elements when tight fits are used on the shaft and housing, or when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be pulled out axially in both directions. This design compensates for axial changes in the shaft’s length directly between the roller set and the raceway, and also facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
The designation C3 refers to a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than that of standard bearings. This additional clearance compensates for any reduction in diameter that occurs when the bearing is pressed onto the shaft or housing. Furthermore, the C3 classification prevents stress build-up if, during continuous operation, the inner ring heats up more than the surrounding bearing housing.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and damping properties. It helps to ensure smooth guidance of the cylindrical rollers and reduces inertial forces during rapid acceleration. Within the permissible temperature range, this material operates with low friction and is suitable for standard industrial lubricants.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This operating range is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted. When designing the bearing arrangement, the viscosity of the selected lubricant and the operating temperature should be matched to ensure that a load-bearing lubricating film is formed in the contact area.
As an open cylindrical roller bearing, this component is designed for enclosed installations where a housing seal keeps out dirt and moisture. The open design allows for the supply of lubricating oil or grease and enables the replacement of lubricants during routine maintenance intervals.
The roller bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0 (PN or ABEC 1). This class defines standardised limit dimensions for bore, outer diameter and width, as well as concentricity tolerances, for general mechanical engineering.
