The FAG NU318 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 90 × 190 × 43 mm, provides a high-load-capacity free-running bearing with increased C3 clearance.
The FAG NU318 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row roller bearing, can withstand high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, this rolling bearing exhibits high rigidity. The NU design is intended purely as a floating bearing, so that changes in shaft length can be compensated for directly within the bearing. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and ensures smooth running during operation.
This rolling bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads, where axial changes in shaft length must be compensated for. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the bearing can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This ability to be dismantled facilitates maintenance work and inspections. As a non-locating bearing, the NU design absorbs purely radial forces and allows the shaft axial movement due to thermal expansion.
The version with the suffix TVP2 features a lightweight polyamide cage, which helps to reduce friction and offers emergency running properties. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees. The increased radial clearance (C3) helps to ensure that sufficient operating clearance is maintained even when the bearing heats up or in the case of tight fits. As this is an open bearing without a seal, the lubricant and external housing seal are selected to suit the operating environment.
With an internal diameter of 90 mm, an external diameter of 190 mm and a width of 43 mm, the bearing complies with the nominal dimensions of the NU318 design. These dimensions define the required installation space in the housing and on the shaft.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed axially from either side. The roller bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and internally compensates for axial shaft displacement.
C3 denotes an increased radial clearance in the bearing compared with standard conditions. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways is advantageous when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits reduce the operating clearance.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties under dynamic loads and its ability to dampen running noise during operation.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the polyamide cage and the lubricant selected for the bearing.
As an open design without an integrated seal, the bearing can be lubricated with grease or oil as required. An external seal on the bearing housing protects against contamination and prevents the lubricant from leaking out.
