The FAG NU217 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 85x150x28 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity as a separable non-locating bearing with a lightweight polyamide cage.
The NU217 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 28 mm, this roller bearing can accommodate significant radial forces. The design as a floating bearing allows for axial displacement of the shaft directly within the bearing. Design engineers and maintenance personnel opt for this design when rigid mountings cannot compensate for thermal length changes.
This roller bearing is used where high radial forces are present and axial shaft expansion needs to be compensated for. As the inner ring has no flanges, the shaft moves freely relative to the outer ring when heated. This prevents axial stress in the bearing arrangement. As an open bearing, the unit can be flexibly integrated into on-site oil or grease lubrication systems, allowing the lubricant to be tailored directly to the ambient conditions.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and smooth running. The component is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately on the shaft and housing. This feature facilitates maintenance work and inspections. Manufacture to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 complies with standardised mounting dimensions.
This bearing has an inside diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 28 mm. With these dimensions, this single-row component fits into standardised bearing housings. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, which ensures a precise fit on the shaft.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from both sides. This design functions purely as a non-locating bearing, which compensates for changes in shaft length with low friction. The bearing supports purely radial loads but does not absorb any axial forces.
The polyamide cage maintains a uniform spacing between the cylindrical rollers and guides the ring of rolling elements with minimal vibration. Plastic cages are characterised by their low weight and good running characteristics. The material limits the permissible temperature range to between -30 and +120 degrees, which meets the requirements of common industrial applications.
As an open roller bearing, this component has no integrated seals. Furthermore, the outer ring has neither a groove nor a lubrication bore. Protection against contamination and lubrication with grease or oil must therefore be provided via the surrounding housing. This allows for a customised lubrication concept.
The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard value defines the radial clearance between the rollers and raceways when the bearing is unloaded prior to installation. It is designed for standard fit selections, ensuring that the required operating clearance for quiet running is maintained after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft.
As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the inner ring and outer ring, together with the roller set, can be fitted separately. You press the inner ring directly onto the shaft and fit the outer ring into the housing. During final assembly, slide both parts together, which makes installation easier in confined spaces.
