The FAG NU2315 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, an open idler bearing with a brass cage, accommodates high radial forces on shafts with a diameter of 75 mm.
The NU2315 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG designed for highly loaded bearing arrangements. With a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 55 mm, the design supports heavy radial loads. The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, facilitating separate installation.
In a bearing arrangement, this design serves purely as a non-locating bearing to accommodate transverse forces. Due to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design can withstand high radial loads. As the inner ring has no retaining flanges, this design allows for axial compensation of thermal length changes in the shaft during operation. For axial guidance, the bearing arrangement must be combined with a separate fixed bearing.
This model features a solid brass cage (M1) which guides the roller elements under dynamic loads. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for operational heating and tight fit allowances to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. As this is an open design without integrated seals and without a lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant must be selected to suit the specific application.
The dimensions are 75 mm internal diameter, 160 mm external diameter and 55 mm width. The single-row roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and is based on standard metric dimensions.
Two solid guide flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring define the NU design as a pure non-locating bearing. The design accommodates radial forces only and allows axial displacement of the shaft relative to the bearing housing in both directions.
The designation M1 refers to a solid brass cage for guiding the rolling elements. The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version, which compensates for thermal expansion at operating temperature or in the case of tight fits.
Lubricant is supplied externally via the bearing housing, as the outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore and there are no sealing washers in contact with it. Depending on the operating requirements, lubrication with lubricating oil or grease is suitable.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. To ensure reliable operation, the selected external lubricant must be approved for the same temperature range.
