The FAG 7214 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing accommodates combined radial and high single-direction axial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 70 × 125 × 24 mm.
The 7214 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for demanding rotational movements in mechanical engineering. Thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, this design supports considerable axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and fitted with a lightweight polyamide cage, this unit combines precise guidance with smooth running. This bearing complies with the P0/PN tolerance class specified by the manufacturer FAG.
Design engineers select this design primarily for bearing arrangements where radial loads occur simultaneously with unilateral axial forces. Typical applications include shaft bearings with a defined axial load direction. As a single-row bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted opposite a second bearing positioned at the correct angle. The polyamide cage reduces friction and noise during mechanical operation.
The suffix ‘TVP’ denotes the polyamide cage, which guides the rolling elements and reduces the weight of the rotating parts. Together with the 40-degree contact angle (designation B), the unit can withstand unilateral axial loads with normal radial clearance. The open bearing allows for targeted lubrication with oil or grease via the machine housing. The permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees must be taken into account during design.
The main dimensions are 70 mm bore diameter, 125 mm outside diameter and 24 mm width. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These standardised dimensions allow for installation in standardised bearing housings and on corresponding shaft seats.
TVP refers to the polyamide cage design. This cage material is characterised by low friction and a low weight. It guides the balls in the rolling element set and is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees.
With a contact angle of 40 degrees (designated by the letter B), contact forces are transmitted at an angle to the radial plane. As a result, the bearing can accommodate higher axial forces in one direction than designs with smaller angles. It always requires a suitable counter-guide or a counter-bearing mounted on the shaft.
As this is an open design without integrated grinding or cover discs, apply the lubricant via the surrounding housing. Depending on the operating speed and ambient temperature, use industrial roller bearing grease or circulating oil. External seals protect the bearing housing from contamination.
This version is manufactured to the standard tolerances P0 and PN, which correspond to the ABEC 1 classification. This precision grade meets the standard requirements in general mechanical engineering for dimensional accuracy and concentricity for standardised shaft and housing seats.
