The FAG 7212 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a 60 mm bore, an 110 mm outer diameter and a width of 22 mm.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7212 -B-XL-TVP from FAG Rolling Bearings accommodates combined radial and axial loads. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), this bearing type provides a dimensionally stable basis for demanding industrial applications. As the axial forces are, by design, only absorbed in one direction, it is usually fitted in operation in conjunction with a second bearing. The unshielded version allows for direct integration into existing lubrication systems.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in designs where, in addition to radial forces, defined unilateral axial forces are also present. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering in shaft mountings, industrial gearboxes and rotating drives. Thanks to the polyamide cage, the unit operates quietly and with reduced vibration. As this is an open bearing, it is suitable for environments where continuous oil or grease lubrication is provided via the housing.
The design with a 40-degree contact angle allows axial forces to be absorbed in one specific direction. Thanks to the angled raceways, the design remains load-bearing under axial loading. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low friction and keeps the overall weight of the unit low. When designing, please note the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees and the standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This roller bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in compatible bearing housings.
A contact angle of 40 degrees determines the line of action along which forces are transmitted from one raceway to the other. This geometry enables the angular contact ball bearing to effectively absorb axial loads in one direction. Under combined loads, this angle ensures stable load distribution.
The polyamide cage guides the balls evenly within the bearing and keeps them separate from one another. The material dampens running noise, exhibits elastic behaviour under impact loads and reduces the weight of the bearing. It is designed for the temperature range specified in the data sheet, from -20 to +120 degrees.
Open roller bearings are supplied by the manufacturer without sealing washers and are suitable for applications where the housing is sealed externally. Designs of this type allow the lubricant to circulate freely, for example in gearboxes with oil-bath lubrication. Before commissioning, you must lubricate the bearing with a suitable grease or lubricating oil.
The permissible operating temperature ranges from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the polyamide cage are designed to suit this temperature range. When designing the bearing arrangement, the choice of lubricant and the ambient temperature should remain within these limits.
P0, or ABEC 1, refers to the standard tolerance for rolling bearings in general mechanical engineering. It specifies limit deviations for key dimensions, concentricity and axial run-out. For most rotating shafts in industrial applications, this accuracy class provides a defined level of concentricity.
