The SKF 7303 BEP angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 17 × 47 × 14 mm and a 40-degree contact angle, provides a robust bearing solution for combined radial and axial loads.
The SKF 7303 BEP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 17 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Thanks to its internal geometry with a contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing accommodates not only radial forces but also single-direction axial forces. This version features standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
The design is suitable for bearing locations where combined loads consisting of radial and single-direction axial forces act within a confined installation space. As a single angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in a mirror-image configuration opposite a second rolling bearing. This enables precise shaft guidance under dynamic loads.
The 40-degree contact angle supports high axial load capacity in one direction. The integrated polyamide cage facilitates low-friction guidance of the rolling elements and contributes to smooth running. As this is an open bearing without sealing washers, the lubricant can be flexibly adapted to the installation conditions. The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The roller bearing has an internal bore of 17 mm, an external diameter of 47 mm and a total width of 14 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove, which facilitates standardised installation in cylindrical housing bores.
A contact angle of 40 degrees means that the line of action of the transmitted forces runs at an angle to the radial plane. As a result, the bearing is particularly effective at absorbing axial loads in one direction. For axial guidance on both sides, the bearings must be arranged in pairs, with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction.
The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low friction and is characterised by good damping properties. This cage material reduces operating noise and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The design also ensures smooth running across a wide range of speed requirements.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated seals. Lubricants can reach the raceways directly and can be selected freely. At the same time, this design requires the bearing location to be protected from contaminants and moisture by external housing seals in order to prevent premature wear.
This model is manufactured to tolerance class P0, or standard tolerance (corresponding to ABEC 1), and has a standard radial bearing clearance. This standard version meets the usual requirements of general mechanical engineering in terms of dimensional accuracy, concentricity and operating clearance under normal operating conditions.
The version made from roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a polyamide cage is designed for temperatures between –20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the material and the cage retain their mechanical strength. When selecting the lubricant, the intended operating temperature range of the system should also be taken into account.
