The FAG 7202 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing combines radial and single-direction axial loads with compact dimensions of 15 × 35 × 11 mm and a lightweight polyamide cage.
The 7202 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a 15 mm bore, 35 mm outside diameter and 11 mm width. It accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in one direction. Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing transmits axial loads specifically via the rows of balls. As an open bearing, it can be integrated into existing lubrication systems and is suitable for industrial bearing arrangements subject to combined loads.
This rolling bearing is used where rotating shafts must withstand not only radial forces but also defined axial forces in one direction. In combination with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction, the arrangement also accommodates alternating axial loads. The design is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees with standard radial clearance.
The 40-degree contact angle increases the axial load-carrying capacity compared with bearings with a smaller contact angle. As a result, the component stably supports axial forces in the intended load direction. The polyamide cage keeps the component weight low and promotes smooth running during operation. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, installation requires a clean environment and external sealing of the bearing housing to protect against dirt and lubricant loss.
The main dimensions are 15 mm internal diameter, 35 mm external diameter and 11 mm overall width. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or ring groove. These standardised dimensions allow for direct installation in standardised housing bores and on suitable shaft seats.
At a contact angle of 40 degrees, the lines connecting the contact points between the balls and raceways run at an angle to the radial plane. This geometry is designed to specifically transmit high unilateral axial forces whilst simultaneously withstanding radial loads. A second bearing mounted in the opposite direction is required to accommodate alternating axial forces.
Without integrated cover plates or sealing washers, the open design allows for a direct supply of lubricant via external oil or grease systems within the housing. The design must ensure that the bearing housing is effectively sealed to prevent lubricant loss and the ingress of dirt particles.
A polyamide cage guides the rolling elements whilst being lightweight itself, and helps to ensure quiet operation. The permissible temperature range for the entire assembly is between –20 and +120 degrees, which must be taken into account when selecting the lubricant.
This model is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the international ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance meets the usual precision requirements of general mechanical engineering with regard to dimensional, form and concentricity accuracy on precisely machined bearing seats.
Due to the manufacturing process, single-row angular contact ball bearings have a standard radial clearance; the final operating clearance is only established during assembly through axial alignment against a mating bearing. The appropriate preload for operation is set using adjusting nuts, keyways or spacer washers.
