The FAG 33217 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 85 × 150 × 49 mm, is designed to accommodate combined radial and axial loads in machinery and gearbox construction.
The FAG 33217 tapered roller bearing is designed as a single-row bearing for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to its dimensions – a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 49 mm – the bearing can withstand high radial forces as well as unidirectional axial forces. The scope of supply for this complete tapered roller bearing comprises the inner ring with roller cage and the matching outer ring. The design complies with standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
This tapered roller bearing is primarily used in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction. Wherever combined loads consisting of radial forces and axial thrust forces occur, the tapered design provides a rigid bearing arrangement. As single-row designs, by their very construction, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designers frequently combine the component with a second, mirror-image bearing mounted on the shaft. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and maintains an even spacing between the rollers. A key feature of this rolling bearing is its ability to be dismantled: the outer ring can be fitted independently of the inner ring, together with the set of rollers. This facilitates installation and the precise adjustment of the axial clearance within the housing. During design, care must be taken to ensure a suitable housing seal and lubrication supply, as the bearing is of an open design.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a total width of 49 mm. These standardised key dimensions are crucial for ensuring a precise fit on the shaft and within the housing. Always check the available installation space at your bearing location before fitting.
The tapered roller design accommodates high radial loads and axial forces in one direction simultaneously. To accommodate axial loads from both directions, two single-row tapered roller bearings are arranged in pairs facing each other. Depending on the required rigidity, they are arranged in an O or X configuration.
This version features a robust sheet steel cage. It holds the rolling elements in position on the raceways and prevents the rollers from coming into direct contact with one another. Sheet steel cages are suitable for typical industrial applications and can withstand mechanical stresses within the standard temperature range.
This FAG bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The components retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. Ensure you select a lubricant that also covers this temperature range and is suitable for the operating conditions.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0, which also corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification. This tolerance class meets the standard accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering and drive technology. It defines standardised dimensional, geometric and running accuracies for industrial mass production.
Single-row tapered roller bearings do not have a fixed clearance when they leave the factory. You set the required operating or bearing clearance during assembly by carefully adjusting the bearing against a mating bearing. The adjustment is usually carried out using shims, threaded rings or by applying specific torques when tightening the shaft.
