The FAG 33216 single-row tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 80 × 140 × 46 mm, can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads on one side.
The 33216 tapered roller bearing is a separable roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. It consists of an inner ring with a roller cage and a removable outer ring. The design features tapered rolling elements on inclined raceways, enabling forces to be transmitted in combination. This complete FAG roller bearing is supplied in the standard version with a sheet steel cage. You use this component in shaft mountings where, in addition to radial forces, significant axial guidance forces act in one direction.
Typical applications for the 33216 tapered roller bearing are in shaft mountings in general mechanical engineering. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by their design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in pairs in an O or X arrangement. In this way, they support shafts on both sides. Thanks to the line contact of the tapered rollers, the bearing offers high rigidity against combined loads.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This design covers a wide range of temperatures in industrial drives. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and thus meets the standard tolerances. As the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately, this significantly simplifies fitting into housings and onto shafts with a diameter of 80 mm.
With an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 140 mm and a total width of 46 mm, the bearing complies with standard metric dimensions. These dimensions enable a precise fit when mounted on shafts and in housings. Before fitting, it is advisable to check that the bearing fits within the available installation space in the structure.
Single-row tapered roller bearings accommodate both radial forces and single-sided axial forces. The angled roller tracks transfer the combined loads to the surrounding structure. For axial guidance on both sides, two bearings are usually arranged facing each other, for example in an O or X configuration.
The permissible operating range for this tapered roller bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The built-in sheet steel cage and the bearing rings retain their mechanical properties within this range. A lubricant suitable for these temperatures and the requirements of the respective bearing location must be selected for operation.
Classification according to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 describes the standard normal tolerance for rolling bearings. It specifies the permissible deviations for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. This tolerance class offers practical accuracy for standard industrial bearings whilst ensuring cost-effective production.
The modular design allows the outer ring and inner ring, together with the roller set, to be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This makes both installation and maintenance significantly easier. During assembly, the bearing clearance or any required preload can be adjusted precisely using shims or shaft nuts.
The sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. The component is characterised by its low weight and its resistance to temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the cage’s open design allows the lubricant to circulate freely.
