The FAG 33214 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 70 × 125 × 41 mm, is designed to withstand high combined radial and axial loads.
The single-row 33214 tapered roller bearing from FAG is designed for demanding industrial applications involving combined radial and axial forces. Thanks to the tapered arrangement of the rolling elements, this bearing transmits axial loads specifically in one direction whilst maintaining a high radial load-carrying capacity. The complete bearing consists of an inner ring with a roller cage and a separable outer ring. With dimensions of 70 mm bore, 125 mm outside diameter and 41 mm width, the design corresponds to the standard version for industrial use.
The 33214 tapered roller bearing is primarily used in assemblies where high radial forces and single-sided axial forces occur simultaneously. Typical applications can be found in general gear and mechanical engineering for rotating shafts. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually arranged in pairs in a mirror-image configuration within assemblies. This enables play-free or specifically preloaded guidance of shafts under dynamic operating conditions.
This tapered roller bearing features a robust sheet steel cage that guides the tapered rollers and withstands vibrations during day-to-day operation. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, making the component suitable for a wide range of industrial drive technology applications. Manufactured to standard tolerance (tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1), the bearing fits precisely into standardised housing and shaft seats. The separable design also facilitates the separate assembly of the inner and outer rings.
With an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 41 mm, these are standardised key dimensions. These dimensions determine the required housing dimensions as well as the shaft fit when designing or replacing an existing bearing unit in mechanical engineering.
As a single-row roller bearing, this component is specifically designed for combined loads. It absorbs heavy radial forces whilst simultaneously supporting axial loads acting on the shaft from one direction. In the case of alternating or axial forces acting from both sides, it is fitted in combination with a second tapered roller bearing mounted in the opposite direction.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the bearing rings retain their dimensional stability, whilst the fitted sheet steel cage maintains its mechanical properties. For continuous operation, a lubricant must be selected that is suitable for the respective operating temperature of the bearing location.
This specification denotes the standard accuracy class for dimensional and running error tolerances in industrial roller bearings. It meets the standard requirements in mechanical engineering and ensures that the bearing fits into housings and shaft seats manufactured in accordance with standards, without the need for special precision fits.
The outer ring can be completely separated from the inner ring, roller set and cage. This non-self-retaining design simplifies assembly, as the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and into the housing respectively. Fitters adjust the bearing clearance during installation by means of axial preload.
A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and withstands the typical mechanical stresses encountered during operation. Furthermore, the material is resistant to common industrial greases and lubricating oils.
