The FAG 33114 tapered roller bearing (70x120x37 mm) can withstand high radial and axial loads and features a sheet steel cage.
The 33114 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG, designed to simultaneously accommodate high radial and axial forces in one direction. With key dimensions of a 70 mm bore, 120 mm outside diameter and 37 mm width, it conforms to the standardised design. The complete bearing consists of the inner ring with a guided set of rollers and the separate outer ring. This design is particularly suitable where rigid shaft mountings are required under defined operating conditions.
The 33114 tapered roller bearing is typically used in gearbox designs and in general mechanical engineering where combined loads are present. Due to the tapered geometry of the raceways, the roller bearing transmits high radial forces as well as single-sided axial forces. As a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, a second counter-bearing is usually incorporated into the design.
This roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard tolerance and is designed for common fits in mechanical engineering. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and is suitable for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately, installation is made easier. During installation, care must be taken to ensure the bearing clearance is set correctly.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 120 mm and a total width of 37 mm. These metric key dimensions comply with the standardised 33114 series and allow for a precise replacement with structurally identical standard bearings in machines and gearboxes.
Due to its design, this single-row bearing can accommodate high radial loads and, at the same time, axial loads from one direction. The angular raceways distribute the combined forces evenly to the outer ring. For axial guidance on both sides, fit two tapered roller bearings facing each other in an O or X arrangement.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The temperature stability of the components and the integrated sheet steel cage are designed to cope with this range. When selecting a lubricant, you should ensure that it is suitable for the operating temperatures encountered in the specific application.
The inner ring with roller cage and the flangeless outer ring can be fitted separately, as the bearing is not self-retaining. This ability to be dismantled simplifies assembly in housings and on shafts. Once assembled, the required bearing clearance is adjusted by pressing the bearing against a second bearing.
The designation P0 or ABEC 1 indicates the standard tolerance for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy in rolling bearings. It meets the usual industrial requirements in gearbox and general mechanical engineering. Tighter manufacturing tolerances are used for higher precision requirements.
FAG fits this tapered roller bearing with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. The cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and ensures they are guided along the inner ring raceway. It is suitable for lubrication with grease or oil across the entire approved temperature range.
