The SKF 33109 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 45 × 80 × 26 mm, can withstand high combined radial and axial loads.
The 33109 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from SKF in a standard design. With a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 26 mm, this design accommodates high radial and axial forces in one direction simultaneously. The sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers precisely along the raceway. The product scope includes the complete tapered roller bearing, comprising the inner ring with roller cage and the matching outer ring.
The 33109 tapered roller bearing is primarily used where high radial forces act in conjunction with unilateral axial loads. Typical applications include gearbox shafts, axle bearings, guide rollers and industrial drives. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in pairs in an X or O configuration with a second bearing to counteract opposing forces.
This model is manufactured to the SKF Explorer performance class and features optimised contact surface geometry for targeted lubricant film formation. The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the rollers spaced apart and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. Thanks to its manufacture to standard tolerances (tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1), the bearing fits precisely into common standard fits used in mechanical engineering. Application-specific lubrication must be provided before commissioning.
The bearing has a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a total width of 26 mm. It is a metric roller bearing with standardised main dimensions, designed as a complete tapered roller bearing comprising both an inner and an outer ring.
The conical arrangement of the rolling elements allows high radial and axial forces to be accommodated simultaneously in one direction. To accommodate axial loads from both sides, mount two tapered roller bearings in a mirror-image configuration, for example in an O or X arrangement on the shaft.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This thermal operating range is supported by the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. Ensure that you choose a lubricant that also reliably covers this temperature range.
The designation P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1 or PN) defines the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings in industrial engineering. It specifies the permissible dimensional, geometric and running accuracies for the inner and outer rings. For most industrial applications, this class offers a practical level of fit accuracy.
Tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining. The inner ring, comprising the roller cage and rollers, can be fitted separately from the flangeless outer ring. This facilitates step-by-step installation onto the shaft and into the housing, as well as the subsequent adjustment of the bearing clearance.
As this bearing is of an open design, it has no integrated seals. Depending on the application and environmental conditions, you can operate it flexibly using either roller bearing grease or lubricating oil. The lubricant must be applied during assembly and protected against the ingress of dirt by a suitable housing sealing arrangement.
