The SKF 32310 tapered roller bearing, a single-row rolling bearing measuring 50 × 110 × 42.25 mm, accommodates high radial and unilateral axial loads.
The 32310 tapered roller bearing is manufactured as a complete roller bearing in the SKF Explorer design. It accommodates combined loads from radial and axial directions. Thanks to the line contact of the tapered rollers, this design offers high rigidity during operation. The bearing features a sheet steel cage that guides the rollers evenly along the raceway and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The single-row tapered roller bearing 32310 is primarily used in bearing arrangements where heavy radial forces and unidirectional axial loads occur simultaneously. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in gearbox designs with high load requirements. As a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually mounted in a mirror-image configuration opposite a second bearing.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers precisely and withstands mechanical stresses within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The 32310 tapered roller bearing complies with standard tolerances in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. As the inner ring with roller set and the outer ring can be fitted separately, installation into the housing and onto the shaft is straightforward.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 42.25 mm. These dimensions define the geometry for mounting on the shaft and in the housing.
Due to the oblique contact angle of the tapered rollers, this design can simultaneously accommodate high radial and axial forces in one direction. To accommodate axial forces acting in both directions, two bearings must be mounted in a face-to-face arrangement. The line contact between the rolling elements also gives the bearing assembly a high degree of rigidity under load.
SKF’s Explorer series is based on optimised internal geometries and adapted contact surfaces between the rollers and raceways. This design optimisation promotes effective lubrication film formation, reduces friction during operation and contributes to a long service life for the rolling bearing.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The integrated sheet steel cage and the dimensionally stable bearing rings ensure proper operation within this range. When selecting the lubricant, the intended operating temperature range of the application should be taken into account accordingly.
Tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining, which means that the inner ring with the roller cage and the outer ring can be fitted separately. This makes it easier to fit the individual components. The required operating clearance or the desired preload is adjusted during assembly by pressing the bearing against a counter-bearing.
This designation refers to the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. P0 or PN denotes the standard tolerance in the metric system, whilst ABEC 1 represents the corresponding classification according to the North American standard. This precision class is designed for the vast majority of standard industrial applications.
