The 32214 tapered roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with dimensions of 70 × 125 × 33.25 mm, is designed to withstand high radial loads as well as axial loads on one side in mechanical engineering applications.
The 32214 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in a standard design. The complete bearing consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and the corresponding outer ring. Due to the tapered arrangement of the rolling elements, this design is suitable for combined forces acting simultaneously on the shaft from both the radial and axial directions. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers evenly along the raceways.
Typical applications for the 32214 tapered roller bearing include bearings subjected to combined radial and axial forces in mechanical engineering. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in pairs, facing each other, in practice. This arrangement supports shaft guides without play and contributes to the rigid guidance of rotating machine parts.
The bearing is manufactured to standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1. The inner ring and outer ring can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing, as the components can be disassembled. You set the required operating clearance or bearing clearance only during installation by clamping two bearings against each other axially. Please note the temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and ensure a suitable lubricant supply via the bearing housing.
This tapered roller bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a total width of 33.25 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in machines and gearboxes designed for the standardised size 32214.
Due to the oblique contact angle of the tapered rollers, the roller bearing can accommodate high radial forces and, at the same time, axial forces acting from one side. To accommodate axial loads acting in both directions, two single-row tapered roller bearings are mounted in a mirror-image O or X configuration on the shaft and aligned axially opposite one another.
The version with a sheet steel cage is specified for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the components retain their dimensional stability. To ensure safe operation, the lubricant used must also be approved for the prevailing temperature inside the bearing housing.
P0 refers to the standardised tolerance class for rolling bearings, which is designated as ABEC 1 in the US. It defines permissible dimensional and running errors for normal industrial requirements. This level of accuracy is entirely sufficient for most applications in general mechanical engineering and gearbox construction.
The design allows the outer ring to be fitted separately from the inner ring, together with the roller cage and sheet steel cage. This makes mechanical installation in housings and onto shafts considerably easier. The final adjustment of the bearing clearance is only carried out when the components are brought together during final assembly.
In this design, a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers. It ensures that the rollers are evenly spaced and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. Sheet steel is characterised by its resistance to common industrial oils and greases within the permissible temperature range.
