The FAG 32040-X tapered roller bearing can accommodate high radial and unilateral axial loads with standardised main dimensions of 200 × 310 × 70 mm.
The 32040 -X tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in a standard design, manufactured by FAG Wälzlager. The design consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and a separate outer ring. With an inner diameter of 200 mm, an outer diameter of 310 mm and a width of 70 mm, the unit is suitable for heavy-duty applications in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction. The product scope includes the complete tapered roller bearing and covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
This bearing accommodates combined loads consisting of high radial forces and axial forces acting in one direction simultaneously. Typical applications include industrial gearboxes and general heavy machinery manufacturing. As single-row tapered roller bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, users usually fit the component in pairs with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction to guide the shaft on both sides.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers along the raceway of the inner ring and withstands industrial operating conditions. Manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) ensures compliance with standard dimensional and running tolerances for general applications. Furthermore, the separable design facilitates the separate fitting of the outer ring and inner ring assemblies into the housing and onto the shaft.
This model has a bore of 200 mm, an external diameter of 310 mm and a width of 70 mm. The standardised key dimensions allow for a precise fit when installing the unit on suitable cylindrical shafts and in housing bores, whether in new designs or repairs within the industrial machinery sector.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the bearing rings, tapered rollers and sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. When selecting greases or lubricating oils, you should ensure that the lubricant is suitable for this temperature range.
This designation indicates the standard tolerance class for metric rolling bearings. P0 and PN denote the standard tolerance for dimensional and radial run-out accuracy, whilst ABEC 1 represents the equivalent US classification. This tolerance class meets the requirements of most standard applications in gearbox and general mechanical engineering.
Due to their design, single-row tapered roller bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. To guide and support a shaft unambiguously in both axial directions, a second tapered roller bearing is positioned opposite the first in a mirror-image configuration. This arrangement also allows the desired bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted during installation.
The sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the individual tapered rollers and prevents direct contact between adjacent rolling elements. It ensures that the rollers are guided smoothly into the load zone and proves to be robust and resistant to common lubricants within the operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The outer ring of the bearing is removable and is not permanently attached to the inner ring. During assembly, you can fit the outer ring into the bearing housing separately, whilst the inner ring, together with the roller cage, is slid onto the shaft. This considerably simplifies handling when dealing with heavy components of this size.
