The FAG 32020-X tapered roller bearing, with main dimensions of 100 × 150 × 32 mm, is designed for combined radial and axial loads.
The 32020 -X tapered roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing in standard design. FAG supplies this item as a complete tapered roller bearing, comprising an inner ring with a set of rollers and a matching outer ring. Thanks to the line contact of the tapered rolling elements, the bearing can accommodate high radial forces. At the same time, the design dissipates single-direction axial forces via the raceways. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers and maintains a uniform spacing between them.
This tapered roller bearing is primarily used where high loads occur alongside axial guidance. Typical applications include gearboxes and bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial forces. As a single tapered roller bearing, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in a mirror-image configuration with a second bearing. This arrangement supports the shaft in both axial directions.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and maintains an even spacing between the rollers. It also holds the roller ring together on the inner ring. The design allows for operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. As the outer and inner rings can be separated, installation can be carried out in separate steps.
The bore measures 100 mm, the external diameter is 150 mm and the overall width is 32 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for installation in suitable housings and on corresponding shaft seats.
Thanks to its angled raceways, this single-row roller bearing accommodates both radial and axial forces from a single direction. The tapered rolling elements ensure even force transmission via their line contact and give the bearing arrangement a high degree of rigidity.
The bearing is not designed to be self-retaining: the inner ring, together with the roller set and the cage, forms a single unit, whilst the outer ring can be removed separately. This separability simplifies the process of pressing the components separately into housings or onto shafts.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. However, the thermal stability of the lubricant selected in each case also determines the actual permissible operating limit during operation.
P0 and PN refer to the standard tolerance for rolling bearings, whilst ABEC 1 represents the corresponding classification according to the US standard. This classification defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances for standard industrial applications.
A single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial loads in one direction. To guide a shaft in both axial directions without any play, two tapered roller bearings are always mounted in a face-to-face configuration. The desired bearing clearance is also set during installation by aligning the bearings with each other.
