The FAG 31313 tapered roller bearing, measuring 65 × 140 × 36 mm, accommodates high radial and axial forces simultaneously in industrial assemblies.
The FAG 31313 tapered roller bearing is designed as a single-row rolling bearing for combined loads. Owing to the tapered shape of the rolling elements, this component transmits radial forces together with axial forces from a single direction. The complete bearing has a 65 mm bore, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 36 mm. A sheet steel cage guides the set of rollers along the inner ring raceway.
This bearing is primarily used in general mechanical engineering and for shaft support applications where single-sided axial forces act on a rotating shaft. As a single-row tapered roller bearing supports axial loads in only one direction, designers usually position the component in a mirror-image configuration opposite a second bearing. The geometry ensures line contact, which enables high rigidity and load-carrying capacity under mixed loads.
The fitted sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers spaced apart and withstands operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. With the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1, the component meets the broad requirements of standard industrial applications without requiring special fits. As the inner ring, including the roller cage, and the outer ring can be fitted separately, the bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted during installation via axial alignment.
The component has a bore of 65 mm, an external diameter of 140 mm and a total width of 36 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted as a direct replacement in existing machine designs and housings.
The single-row bearing supports both radial loads and unilateral axial forces. The angular contact raceways transmit axial forces via the flange of the inner ring. To allow movement in both directions, the bearing must be arranged in pairs with a mating bearing.
P0, also known as standard tolerance or ABEC 1, defines the permissible dimensional and running errors of the rolling bearing. This grade is suitable for general mechanical engineering applications and allows use without tightly toleranced precision shafts or special housings.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the dimensionally stable bearing rings and the guided sheet steel cage are designed for operation within this temperature range.
Due to their design, tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining. The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring, together with the cage and set of rollers. This feature facilitates step-by-step installation and the precise adjustment of the operating clearance during commissioning.
As an open component without integrated sealing washers, the bearing requires the housing to be sealed externally. It can be operated using either grease or lubricating oil, although the lubricant should be selected to suit the ambient conditions.
