The FAG 30305 tapered roller bearing accommodates combined radial and axial loads and has compact dimensions of 25 × 62 × 18.25 mm.
The 30305 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG in a standard design. With a bore of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 62 mm and a width of 18.25 mm, this design is engineered to accommodate both radial and axial forces simultaneously. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers evenly along the raceways. The product is supplied as a complete tapered roller bearing in tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees.
Designs incorporating the 30305 tapered roller bearing are suitable for bearing locations where radial loads are combined with unidirectional axial forces. As tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining by design, the inner ring, together with the roller cage, can be pressed onto the shaft separately from the outer ring. This separate assembly simplifies handling when precisely aligning the housing and shaft in industrial mechanical engineering.
The dimensionally stable sheet steel cage maintains the rollers at a uniform distance and withstands temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. As an open rolling bearing, the unit requires appropriate lubrication via the housing using rolling bearing grease or lubricating oil. In practice, single-row tapered roller bearings are usually mounted in opposition to a second bearing. This axial alignment allows the desired bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted during final assembly.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a total width of 18.25 mm. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto shafts and into bearing housings. The product consists of a complete tapered roller bearing comprising an inner ring, an outer ring and a roller cage.
Due to the angular arrangement of the tapered rollers, this design can accommodate both high radial forces and axial loads from a single direction. To support shafts subject to alternating axial forces, designers usually mount two tapered roller bearings in a mirror-image configuration, either in an O or X arrangement.
This designation refers to the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. It defines the permissible dimensional, geometric and running accuracies for typical requirements in general mechanical and plant engineering. For most industrial applications, this accuracy class provides a tried-and-tested basis for smooth running.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is limited, amongst other things, by the dimensional stability of the bearing components and the sheet steel cage. When specifying the lubrication, users should ensure that the selected grease or lubricating oil is approved for this temperature range.
The inner ring, complete with a set of rollers, and the outer ring are designed as separate components. This design facilitates assembly, as both rings can be pressed onto the shaft or into the housing independently of one another. The bearing components are only joined together when the assembly is finalised.
As this bearing is designed without integrated sliding seals, lubrication is provided via the surrounding machine housing. Depending on the operating conditions and speed, a suitable rolling-element bearing grease or gearbox oil should be used. The lubricant protects the raceways from direct metal-to-metal contact and premature wear.
