The FAG 30217 single-row tapered roller bearing, measuring 85 × 150 × 30.5 mm, can accommodate both high radial forces and unilateral axial loads simultaneously.
The FAG 30217 tapered roller bearing is an open, single-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Owing to the tapered arrangement of the rolling elements, the bearing is particularly suitable for withstanding combined loads from both the radial and axial directions. With an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 30.5 mm, this model corresponds to the standard design. You will receive a complete rolling bearing, comprising an inner ring with a set of rollers and the corresponding outer ring.
Designs in mechanical engineering and drive technology frequently utilise this type of bearing where shafts need to be guided and rigid mounting is required. Typical applications include gearbox designs and shaft mountings subject to combined loads. As a single tapered roller bearing can, by design, only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in pairs in conjunction with a second bearing positioned in a mirror-image configuration. This enables stable guidance of the shaft under varying load directions.
This tapered roller bearing is fitted with a sheet steel cage, which guides the rollers evenly along the raceway and enables operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), which meets the standardised accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering. As the inner and outer rings are not permanently joined, both components can be fitted separately, which simplifies handling during installation and maintenance.
A single-row roller bearing with tapered rolling elements, designed to withstand high radial loads and single-sided axial loads. With an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 30.5 mm, the bearing comprises, as a complete unit, the inner ring, roller set and matching outer ring. It complies with tolerance class P0/PN.
The main dimensions are 85 mm for the bore, 150 mm for the outer diameter and a total width of 30.5 mm. These standardised metric dimensions allow for seamless integration into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats in accordance with standard specifications in general mechanical engineering.
Single-row tapered roller bearings can only support axial loads in one direction. Furthermore, due to their tapered geometry, a radial load also generates an internal axial force. To support shafts on both sides without play and in a stable manner, two bearings are mounted in an O or X arrangement, mirroring each other, and aligned.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. In addition to the dimensional stability of the rings and rolling elements, the key factors determining thermal suitability are, above all, the integrated sheet steel cage and the lubricant used on site, which should be suited to the respective operating temperature.
The sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers evenly and secures the roller set to the inner ring so that it cannot come loose. It is characterised by dimensional stability and mechanical strength. This makes this type of cage suitable for standard industrial applications within the specified temperature range.
As the bearing is of an open design without integrated seals, it requires a suitable supply of grease or oil prior to commissioning. The open design enables users to tailor lubricants and sealing systems precisely to the specific requirements of the machine.
