The FAG 32020 -X-XL-P5 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 100x150x32 mm and tolerance class P5, offers high running accuracy for combined radial and axial loads.
The single-row tapered roller bearing 32020 -X-XL-P5 from FAG accommodates both radial forces and unidirectional axial forces. With an inner diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 32 mm, the bearing fits into the corresponding mounting spaces. Manufactured to tolerance class P5, it has tighter concentricity and axial run-out tolerances than the standard version. The complete rolling bearing assembly comprises the inner ring with roller cage and the corresponding outer ring.
Typical applications include industrial gearboxes and general bearing arrangements where shafts must be guided precisely under combined loads. As a single tapered roller bearing absorbs axial forces in one direction only, it is installed in combination with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction. Its ABEC 5 precision rating supports designs with high requirements for running accuracy and rigidity. A sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers and ensures even load distribution.
The P5 specification defines reduced dimensional and running tolerances compared to the standard. This facilitates a reproducible clearance adjustment when aligning the bearing rings, which contributes to smooth running. The operating temperature range is specified as -30 to +120 degrees. As there are no integrated seals, protection against contamination is provided by the housing design and an application-specific lubrication system.
The bearing has a bore of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a total width of 32 mm. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when mounted on shafts and in housing bores with the corresponding nominal dimensions.
Tolerance class P5 (comparable to ABEC 5) denotes a higher level of manufacturing precision than the standard tolerance. It is characterised by smaller deviations in concentricity and raceway geometries, which are required for demanding guidance applications.
The roller bearing is specified for use within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the components retain their dimensional stability, provided that the lubricant used is also suitable for these temperatures.
As the tapered roller bearing can be dismantled, the inner ring with the roller set and the outer ring can be fitted separately. Single-row designs are mounted in pairs opposite a second bearing, for example in an O or X configuration, to accommodate axial forces from both directions.
This design utilises a sheet steel cage. It guides the rolling elements along the inner ring raceway and maintains a defined spacing between them. The cage is suitable for the entire specified operating temperature range.
