The SKF 30302 J2 tapered roller bearing (15 × 42 × 14.25 mm) accommodates combined radial and axial loads in compact industrial drives.
The 30302 J2 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from SKF with a 15 mm bore, 42 mm outer diameter and 14.25 mm width. Thanks to its tapered rollers and integrated sheet steel cage, this bearing can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads from one direction. As a complete tapered roller bearing in the Explorer series, it meets tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This single-row tapered roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to combined loads, where axial forces need to be specifically supported. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering and in powertrains. As the bearing is not self-retaining, the outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring with the roller cage. This design feature facilitates assembly and inspection within housings.
As a single-row tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, in practice it is usually fitted in pairs, with one bearing facing the other. Users adjust the bearing clearance during installation to achieve the required preload. The integrated sheet steel cage and the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees support use under demanding operating conditions.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 42 mm and a total width of 14.25 mm. Thanks to these standardised metric dimensions, the tapered roller bearing can be fitted precisely into housings and onto shafts, and replaces components of the same dimensions in mechanical engineering.
SKF’s Explorer series features an optimised internal geometry and advanced surface finishes on the contact surfaces of the rollers and raceways. This design improves load distribution during operation and helps to reduce wear under combined loads.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. Within this range, the components retain their dimensional stability. When commissioning the system, ensure that the selected lubricant is also suitable for the prevailing operating temperature at the bearing location.
Due to its design, a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. Arranging them in pairs in an O or X configuration allows loads to be accommodated in both directions. Furthermore, the required operating clearance can be precisely adjusted during final assembly using the mating bearing.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the international ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance meets the standard requirements in industrial gear and machinery manufacturing and ensures a precise fit on cylindrical shafts.
Inside, a sheet steel cage guides the set of rollers along the inner ring raceway. This cage design combines mechanical stability with low weight. It is suitable for the entire temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees and can withstand typical operational vibrations.
