The SKF 24038 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing features a 190 mm bore, a 290 mm outer diameter and P5 running accuracy for demanding industrial applications involving misalignment.
This SKF 24038 CC/W33 double-row self-aligning roller bearing accommodates heavy radial loads as well as combined axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. With dimensions of 190 x 290 x 100 mm, this Explorer-quality version is suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians primarily use the 24038 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing in situations where high radial loads act on rotating shafts subject to deflection or misalignment. The rolling bearing is used in general mechanical engineering as well as in heavy-duty industrial drives. As an open design without sealing washers, it allows for flexible lubrication with grease or lubricating oil. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical rollers precisely and is suitable for variable speeds in continuous operation.
The designation W33 denotes an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This facilitates regular relubrication whilst the bearing is installed, as lubricant is fed directly between the two rows of rollers. Whilst the dimensional accuracy complies with the standard PN tolerance, the finer P5 running accuracy ensures smooth, low-vibration concentricity. In combination with standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is designed for typical fit conditions and moderate heating.
With a bore diameter of 190 mm, an outside diameter of 290 mm and a width of 100 mm, this roller bearing has standardised main dimensions for corresponding housings and shaft seats in mechanical engineering.
The designation W33 indicates a lubrication groove and lubrication holes on the outer ring. This feed system allows lubricant to be directed straight into the bearing, thereby reducing the need for relubrication during operation.
Dimensional and running accuracy are combined: whilst the dimensions for the bore and outer ring comply with the standard tolerance PN, the running accuracy meets the tighter tolerance class P5 for uniform concentricity.
As this model has an open design, it does not feature any integrated seals. To protect against dirt and prevent the loss of lubricant, external sealing elements, such as shaft seals, must be fitted to the housing.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +200 degrees. The material used is standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in combination with a sheet steel cage, designed for use with lubricants suitable for the relevant temperatures.
A standard radial bearing clearance is specified. This radial clearance is suitable for standard fit conditions and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during normal operation.
