The 23948 -MB spherical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager can accommodate high radial loads with a 240 mm bore and an outer diameter of 320 mm.
The 23948 -MB self-aligning roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager is an open roller bearing designed for industrial applications with limited radial installation space. With dimensions of 240 x 320 x 60 mm, this bearing is suitable for large shaft diameters. It automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. The version made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6 is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used in bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads, where misalignment or deflection occurs between the housing and the shaft. The open design allows for direct lubrication via the surrounding housing. The narrow design with a low cross-sectional height enables a high radial load-carrying capacity to be achieved in radially compact installation conditions.
The suffix -MB denotes a brass cage that guides the rolling elements during vibrations and accelerations. Brass is a material that offers good emergency running properties and mechanical strength. The lubricant is fed directly between the rows of rolling elements via the lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. The bearing has standard radial clearance and a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1 for standard fits.
This roller bearing has a bore of 240 mm, an outer diameter of 320 mm and a width of 60 mm. Thanks to this dimensional ratio, the bearing offers a high load-carrying capacity within a compact radial space. The dimensions correspond to the standard version of this size and allow for installation in suitable bearing housings.
The designation -MB indicates a version with a brass cage, which ensures stable guidance of the rolling elements within the bearing. Brass provides mechanical stability under vibration and reduces friction in the event of temporary lubrication failures during operation.
The bearing has a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. Grease or lubricating oil enters directly into the bearing, between the rolling elements, via these openings. As this is an open bearing without sealing washers, protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used, as well as the brass cage, retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When selecting the lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that its specification corresponds to the intended operating temperatures of the bearing location.
This model features standard radial bearing clearance and a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1. The standard bearing clearance is suitable for standard operating conditions without significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. Tolerance class P0 defines standardised dimensional and runout tolerances for common industrial fits.
Spherical roller bearings have a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, within which the rollers move with adjustable angular misalignment. This allows the bearing to compensate for static misalignment or dynamic shaft deflection. This prevents the rollers from running on their edges, which reduces mechanical stress and promotes smooth running.
