The SKF 23228 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 140 x 250 x 88 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity even when the shaft is misaligned.
The SKF 23228 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for heavy mechanical loads. With a bore of 140 mm, an outside diameter of 250 mm and a width of 88 mm, this roller bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications. SKF manufactures the bearing from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) in the Explorer design. The open-type unit features a sheet steel cage and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The design, featuring two symmetrical rows of rollers, is engineered to accommodate high radial forces whilst also withstanding axial forces on both sides. This design is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to heavy shaft loads without fixed alignment. As it is an open bearing, the system can be flexibly integrated with external lubrication systems.
The designation CCK refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or using clamping and withdrawal sleeves. The designation W33 indicates a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This enables a uniform supply of lubricant directly into the interior of the bearing. With a running accuracy of P5, this bearing also meets increased requirements for concentricity.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 140 mm, an external diameter of 250 mm and a total width of 88 mm. These precisely defined key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into suitable bearing housings and machine frames. Before installation, the available installation space should be checked against these dimensions.
The designation CCK refers to a spherical roller bearing with a sheet steel cage and a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. The suffix W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes fitted to the outer ring. This design facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is installed and aids the distribution of lubricant throughout the entire set of rollers.
A tapered inner ring with a 1:12 taper allows mounting on cylindrical shafts using suitable clamping or withdrawal sleeves. Alternatively, the component can be fitted directly onto a tapered shaft journal. Fitters adjust the required radial bearing clearance via the axial displacement during press-fitting.
This open roller bearing is designed for use within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. As there are no integrated rubber seals, the thermal operating range is primarily limited by the lubricant selected. When selecting the bearing, care must be taken to ensure that the lubricant is approved for the operating temperature of the bearing location.
The bearing combines the dimensional accuracy of standard class PN with increased running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5. The dimensional tolerances ensure a precise fit on both the shaft and the housing. At the same time, the tighter P5 running accuracy ensures low-vibration operation of the rolling elements at rated speeds.
The bearing features a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, allowing grease or lubricating oil to be applied directly between the rows of rollers. As this is an open design without its own sealing washers, the bearing housing requires an effective housing seal to protect against contamination and lubricant loss.
