The SKF 23136 CCK/C3W33 spherical roller bearing compensates for misalignment with a shaft diameter of 180 mm and accommodates heavy radial loads.
This double-row roller bearing, made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), handles heavy loads and accommodates shaft deflection and misalignment via its spherical outer ring raceway. With a bore of 180 mm, an outer diameter of 300 mm and a width of 96 mm, this open bearing is suitable for demanding industrial drives. The version with a sheet steel cage is suitable for a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Thanks to its increased running accuracy (P5) combined with standard dimensional accuracy (PN), the bearing operates very smoothly even under continuous load.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel typically use this size in heavy-duty industrial applications, large drives or highly loaded shaft bearings where static and dynamic misalignments occur. As the bearing is of an open design, the installation point requires an external housing seal as well as a targeted lubricant supply. The suffix W33 indicates that the outer ring has an integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes. This facilitates relubrication directly via the bearing housing, without the grease having to penetrate the entire internal bearing space from the side.
The designation K stands for a tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. You can mount the bearing either on a tapered shaft seat or, using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve, on cylindrical shafts. The tight fit is achieved by axially sliding the inner ring onto the shaft, which reduces the internal radial clearance. To prevent seizing despite this tight press fit and possible thermal expansion during operation, the component is supplied ex works with the slightly increased C3 bearing clearance class.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 300 mm and a width of 96 mm. It is made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and has a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 for mounting on tapered shafts or sleeves.
The designation W33 refers to a lubrication groove on the outer ring with radial lubrication holes. This design facilitates targeted relubrication of the roller sets directly via a lubrication hole in the housing, which improves the flow of lubricant and reduces maintenance requirements.
Bearing clearance class C3 has a greater radial bearing clearance than the standard ‘Normal’ class. When the inner ring with a tapered bore is fitted, it expands on the seat, which reduces the bearing clearance. The C3 classification helps to ensure that sufficient operating clearance remains after press-fitting.
Thanks to the heat treatment of the standard roller bearing steel and the inclusion of a sheet steel cage, this self-aligning roller bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. It is therefore also suitable for bearing locations with higher internal heat generation or thermal environmental stress.
The component does not have any integrated sealing washers. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the machine’s housing design, for example by means of labyrinth seals or shaft seals. Lubrication is carried out using either grease or oil via the factory-fitted lubrication groove in the outer ring.
