The SKF 23136 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing, measuring 180 × 300 × 96 mm, compensates for misalignment and accommodates high combined loads.
The SKF 23136 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row, open roller bearing designed for heavy-duty industrial applications. With a bore of 180 mm, an outer diameter of 300 mm and a width of 96 mm, this bearing accommodates high radial forces whilst withstanding axial loads in both directions. The Explorer-quality version, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, features a standard radial clearance and a sheet steel cage. The permissible operating temperature range is from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used in bearing arrangements where shaft deflection or misalignment occurs. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the roller set adjusts angularly and compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing without causing harmful edge pressure. The integrated lubrication groove, complete with lubrication holes in the outer ring in accordance with the W33 specification, allows for relubrication whilst the bearing is installed, enabling lubricant to reach directly between the rows of rollers.
The CCK design features a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design enables mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using suitable mounting and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. The axial fit allows the bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted. The combination of dimensional accuracy to PN class and running accuracy to P5 class ensures low-vibration operation under working conditions.
The suffix CC indicates the version with a sheet steel cage. The K denotes the tapered bore with a 1:12 taper for mounting on tapered seats or sleeves. The suffix W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which enables the direct supply of lubricant whilst the bearing is in operation.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 180 mm at the bore, an external diameter of 300 mm and a total width of 96 mm. As this is a tapered bore, the nominal dimension of 180 mm refers to the theoretical start of the taper at the wider end of the bore.
As this spherical roller bearing is of an open design with no integrated seals, the bearing housing requires external sealing and lubrication with grease or oil. The lubricant enters the bearing directly via the lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring in accordance with W33, in order to reduce friction and wear.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +200 degrees Celsius. The material properties of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the steel sheet cage used enable operation within this temperature range, provided that the lubricants used are approved for the relevant thermal conditions.
This bearing combines the standard dimensional accuracy of PN with the enhanced running accuracy of tolerance class P5. The tighter tolerances on running characteristics help to reduce vibrations and run-out errors. This ensures smooth operation in demanding rotational applications.
The roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. In the case of bearings with a tapered bore, this radial clearance is reduced when the bearing is slid axially onto the tapered seat or a suitable sleeve. The remaining operating clearance is determined during assembly using feeler gauges.
