The SKF 23128 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing combines a tapered bore with an internal diameter of 140 mm and a lubrication groove for demanding industrial applications.
This 23128 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed as an open, double-row roller bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel in the SKF Explorer design. With dimensions of 140 mm bore diameter, 225 mm outer diameter and 68 mm width, it can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads on both sides. The angularly adjustable internal design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the specified temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This bearing design is primarily used in mounting positions where elastic deformations of the shaft or misalignments between the housing seats need to be compensated for. Thanks to the spherical raceway of the outer ring, the bearing adjusts to angular movements and distributes the radial and axial forces across both rows of rollers. This prevents localised edge pressures, contributing to even load distribution and smooth running under demanding operating conditions.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows mounting on tapered shaft seats as well as on cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. The desired radial bearing clearance can be adjusted by means of controlled axial displacement on the tapered seat. The designation W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, through which fresh lubricant can be fed directly into the bearing interior.
The code describes specific design features of the rolling bearing. The abbreviation CC indicates the internal design with a sheet steel cage. The K refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 for tapered shaft seats or sleeve mounting. The designation W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring for the supply of lubricant.
With a bore diameter of 140 mm, an outside diameter of 225 mm and a total width of 68 mm, the bearing complies with standardised key dimensions. These dimensions allow it to be fitted into suitable housing designs. Due to its open design, the bearing requires a seal against dirt and moisture to be integrated into the housing on site.
Due to the tapered internal bore, the bearing is mounted either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, with the aid of a mounting or withdrawal sleeve, onto a cylindrical shaft. When the bearing is pushed onto the shaft axially, the inner ring expands in a controlled manner, thereby adjusting the radial bearing clearance to the required operating dimension.
The roller bearing is manufactured to the tolerance class with dimensional accuracy PN and running accuracy P5. The geometric limit dimensions therefore correspond to the standard accuracy, whilst the radial and axial run-out meet tighter tolerance limits. This combination ensures low-vibration operation of the rolling elements under operational loads.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for this frame. To ensure reliable operation, a lubricant must be selected that maintains its viscosity and lubricity within the prevailing operating temperatures.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows for continuous lubrication via external lubrication systems and the W33 lubrication groove in the outer ring. This facilitates the continuous replacement of grease or lubricating oil in applications subject to high thermal or mechanical loads, whilst the surrounding housing provides the seal.
