The SKF 22338 CC/W33 open spherical roller bearing, measuring 190 × 400 × 132 mm, accommodates high radial loads as well as misalignment during operation.
The SKF 22338 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding applications in mechanical engineering. Thanks to its barrel-shaped rollers, this design automatically compensates for both static and dynamic misalignments between the shaft and housing. As an open roller bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, the unit is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The Explorer version combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class PN with enhanced running accuracy in accordance with Class P5.
This roller bearing is primarily used where heavy radial forces act on shafts with a diameter of 190 mm and where misalignment may occur. The double-row bearing also accommodates combined loads with moderate axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its angular adjustment capability, the bearing continues to operate even with slight shaft deflection.
The W33 designation indicates a ring-shaped lubrication groove with integrated lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This design feature allows direct relubrication via the bearing housing, without the need to force lubricant past the rolling elements from the side. As a result, grease or oil is distributed evenly across both rows of rollers. In combination with the lightweight sheet-steel cage and the standard radial clearance, this ensures smooth running.
With an internal diameter of 190 mm, an external diameter of 400 mm and a total width of 132 mm, these standardised key dimensions determine the required installation space within housings and on shaft journals in industrial plant engineering.
W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design is intended to ensure the targeted delivery of lubricant directly between the rows of rollers and facilitates relubrication whilst the unit is in operation.
The model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is suitable for standard mounting fits and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
SKF’s Explorer range combines standardised nominal dimensions with a high standard of manufacturing quality. Whilst the external dimensions comply with the standard PN tolerance class, the running accuracy of the rotating components meets the tighter P5 class.
As an open roller bearing, the 22338 CC/W33 model has no integrated lip or end seals. Protection against contaminants and moisture is provided by the surrounding bearing housing, which also allows for flexible lubrication methods.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. When selecting a lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that its thermal resistance is suitable for the specific application.
