The SKF 22336 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing, measuring 180 × 380 × 126 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity for heavy radial loads in continuous industrial operation.
The 22336 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications involving high combined loads. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design, this type automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. The design features a cylindrical bore of 180 mm, an outer diameter of 380 mm and a width across flats of 126 mm. With standard radial clearance and a guided sheet steel cage, the bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in industrial applications where high radial forces and axial loads in both directions occur. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing accommodates shaft misalignment without edge pressure. The open-type design allows for flexible integration into housing systems with an external lubrication supply.
The W33 designation indicates an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This feature facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is installed and distributes the lubricant evenly throughout the rolling element chamber. Furthermore, the bearing meets the tighter running accuracy of tolerance class P5 whilst maintaining standard dimensional accuracy PN. This combination reduces vibrations during operation and ensures smooth running under demanding speed conditions.
The designation W33 refers to a ring-shaped lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This allows grease or lubricating oil to be applied directly from the outside into the bearing during maintenance work. This considerably simplifies the regular supply of lubricant in sealed bearing housings.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 380 mm and a width of 126 mm. Design engineers and maintenance personnel must take these mounting dimensions into account precisely when designing the housing and determining the shaft fit, in order to ensure that the bearing assembly functions correctly.
In the 22336 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing, the manufacturer SKF combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN with the tighter running accuracy of class P5. Whilst the mounting dimensions comply with the usual standard tolerances, the bearing offers more precise concentricity. This reduces unwanted vibrations during operation.
The version made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and a sheet steel cage is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. Within this range, the material retains its dimensional stability. When selecting a lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that the chosen lubricant is suitable for the relevant operating temperature.
The bearing does not come with integrated sealing washers as standard. In the case of large self-aligning roller bearings of this size, protection against dirt and moisture is typically provided by the surrounding housing, for example via labyrinth seals or shaft seals. The open design also allows for flexible relubrication during operation.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the rolling elements and raceways as specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance is designed for average fit conditions and typical temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, so that the bearing operates with the required operating clearance once fitted.
