The SKF 22312 EK self-aligning roller bearing (60x130x46 mm) compensates for misalignment and accommodates high radial and axial loads in demanding shaft mountings.
The 22312 EK self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for demanding operating conditions. Manufactured from 100Cr6 bearing steel, this SKF Explorer series bearing is characterised by its high load-carrying capacity. With key dimensions of a 60 mm bore diameter, 130 mm outer diameter and 46 mm width, this design is suitable for medium to heavy-duty applications. Thanks to the hollow spherical outer ring raceway, the roller set dynamically adapts to misalignments of the shaft.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used where high radial loads occur in conjunction with shaft deflection or misalignment. The geometry allows for continuous angular misalignment compensation during operation without additional edge pressures occurring on the rolling elements. Thanks to the sheet steel cage and the temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees, the bearing also withstands fluctuating thermal stresses during operation.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using clamping and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts, thereby allowing the remaining radial clearance to be precisely adjusted during installation. For lubrication, the outer ring features a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes. Furthermore, the bearing has the standard dimensional accuracy PN in combination with the running accuracy P5, which contributes to smooth running.
The letter combination indicates design features. The ‘K’ stands for the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 for sleeve or shaft mounting. The ‘E’ indicates the optimised internal design with increased load-carrying capacity, which is achieved by means of a robust sheet steel cage.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a total width of 46 mm. These dimensions provide a robust cross-section capable of withstanding heavy combined loads, whilst maintaining a compact design in mechanical engineering.
The lubrication groove and the associated lubrication holes in the outer ring allow the raceways to be relubricated directly. This ensures that the lubricant is distributed symmetrically to the centre of the bearing, cooling the contact zones and evenly displacing spent lubricant from the working area of both rows of rollers.
Whilst the dimensional accuracy PN complies with standardised manufacturing tolerances, the running accuracy P5 has tighter tolerance limits. This results in lower runout error during operation, reduces unwanted vibrations and ensures smooth running with an even load distribution across the rolling elements.
Thanks to the heat treatment of the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the temperature-insensitive sheet steel cage, the open bearing can be operated within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. When designing the bearing arrangement, the chosen lubricant must be selected to suit the intended temperature range.
The bearing is pressed either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, using a suitable mounting or withdrawal sleeve, onto a cylindrical shaft. As it is pushed on axially, the inner ring expands, thereby allowing the initial bearing clearance to be reduced by a defined amount.
