The SKF 22222 EK self-aligning roller bearing (110x200x53 mm) withstands high radial loads and compensates for misalignment during operation.
This double-row 22222 EK self-aligning roller bearing combines a high radial load-carrying capacity with the ability to compensate for misalignment and shaft deflection. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this open bearing is suitable for demanding mechanical assemblies. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical barrel rollers along their raceways. Thanks to SKF’s Explorer design, featuring standard dimensional accuracy PN and running accuracy P5, the design ensures smooth running even under high loads.
The bearing is primarily designed for heavy radial loads and shock loads, such as those encountered in shaft mountings prone to deflection. Thanks to the spherical raceway of the outer ring, the 22222 EK self-aligning roller bearing compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings, thereby counteracting edge stresses. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Lubricant is fed directly between the sets of rollers via the circumferential lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or use in conjunction with a suitable adapter sleeve on cylindrical shafts. The remaining radial bearing clearance can be adjusted by axially sliding the inner ring. As this is an unsealed bearing, the bearing housing requires external sealing as well as grease or oil lubrication as required.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 200 mm and a total width of 53 mm. The internal bore is tapered with a taper ratio of 1:12, which must be taken into account when fitting the bearing onto tapered shafts or clamping sleeves.
This combination of letters describes key design features of the manufacturer SKF. The ‘E’ stands for an optimised internal design and a sheet steel cage. The ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a 1:12 ratio, which allows for variable adjustment of the bearing clearance during assembly.
For relubrication, the outer ring has an integrated lubrication groove with corresponding lubrication holes. This allows grease or lubricating oil to be applied directly into the interior of the bearing, between the two rows of rollers. As the bearing is open, it requires a suitable housing seal to protect it from dirt and moisture during operation.
This model is designed with standard radial bearing clearance. The dimensional accuracy complies with the PN standard class, whilst the running accuracy is manufactured to class P5. This ensures low-vibration operation and defined concentricity, even under heavy radial loads.
The bearing, made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The sheet steel cage is suitable for this temperature range. A lubricant with the appropriate temperature stability is always essential for operation within this temperature range.
